It is our philosophy that information and knowledge should always be free and actively shared on the web.
For the most part the web is a truly amazing repository of information, but here at Easy-Edinburgh Web Design and IT Services, two things really (and I mean REALLY!) annoy us:
- People charging for knowledge that should be free (I'm looking at you experts exchange!). Charging people to answer the same question you were shown for free? That's just wrong and not what the webs about.
- Arrogance and the RTFM RTFM: Read The F**king Manual
An annoying and arrogant phrase found in many forums around the web when someone, shockingly, asks for help or advice without first reading several 1000s of pages of badly written manuals attitude. Too many people are put off from discovering the delights of Web Development, Linux, Programming, building there own gamming rig or even just a bit of desktop publishing by arrogant answers. All it does is show up their own technical weakness, it's easy to show someone how to do something if they also have 17 years experience playing with PCs and programming. But if you can't explain it to my mum (who still phones me up because she can't quite work out why she has to use another remote for the digital box) then you don't know your stuff well enough! - Ok, I said 2 things, but I'm on a roll now. When you post on a forum and are immediately told "Goolge it!" or "Already posted! Already posted!". Relax. Who cares if someone posts the same question twice on a forum?
We'll also talk to you at your level, whether beginner or advanced Linux God (although we might ask you questions if you're the latter!). We won't be arrogant, miss-leading, patronising or push you into trying to buy our services. We believe our free service will be enough to convince you to purchase our paid services if you so wish.
